PLATO PRÁCTICO

🍗 Pollo a la cacciatore en olla de cocción lenta | Rinde 12 porciones

This is a big-batch slow cooker chicken cacciatore — five pounds of drumsticks, so it makes plenty. Fair warning: it comes out saucier and a bit more brothy than a classic stovetop cacciatore, which is normal for the slow cooker and honestly a good thing here. With this many servings, all that flavorful sauce means every plate gets plenty spooned over the top. The chicken turns out fall-off-the-bone tender and juicy, and the sauce is rich and full of flavor. I keep it low-carb with a small side like peas, but it’s just as good over pasta, rice, potatoes, or any veggie you like. Want it thicker? Easy instructions are below.

Ingredients

  • 5 lb Chicken Drumsticks
  • 1 Yellow Onion
  • 1 can Chicken Broth (12 ounces)
  • 1 can Cream of Chicken Soup (10 ounces) Gluten-free option: Cream of chicken soup contains wheat flour. To make this gluten-free, substitute a certified gluten-free cream of chicken soup, or replace it with 8 oz cream cheese blended into the broth. Check the chili starter label as well, since some brands contain wheat.
  • 1 can Chili Starter (15 ounces)
  • 1 bag Frozen Sweet Peas

Instructions

  • Add the chicken: Place the drumsticks in an even layer in the bottom of a 6-quart crockpot.
  • Prepare the vegetables: Dice the onion and scatter it evenly over the chicken.
  • Add the liquid: In a bowl, combine the cream of chicken soup, chili starter, and broth. Add a splash of water to each empty can, swirl to collect what's left, and add that too. Stir until combined, then pour over the chicken and onions.
  • Cook: Cover and cook on HIGH for 4 hours, then switch to LOW for 4–6 hours or overnight. It's done when the chicken pulls easily from the bone, reaches 165°F internally, and the sauce is bubbling gently at the edges rather than boiling. If the sauce thickens too much, add a splash of broth.
  • Serve: Serve warm with the peas alongside.
